Chevy Youth Baseball - Kid Reporter for Milwaukee Brewers

Updated Tuesday March 6, 2018 by West Bend Little League.

Greetings from Chevy Youth Baseball!

Chevrolet is interested in casting one boy or girl from the Chevy Youth Baseball program to act as their Chevy Youth Baseball “Kid Reporter” for the Milwaukee Brewers’ 2018 season! The selected players will have the opportunity to try out their own interview skills at three or four various Chevrolet-sponsored events at Miller Park.

In addition to submitting a short video of your child telling us why they should be the kid reporter and what they love about the game and the Brewers, please complete the nomination form, using this link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/JLR2FSG. For question #1, be sure to select Milwaukee.

This is a volunteer program that is intended to provide a fun, educational, and positive experience for kids. To make this event a success, we do require that the selected candidate and one (1) parent/guardian be available to attend each of the three (3) to four (4) separate Kid Reporter activities that will be scheduled throughout the Brewers’ season (https://www.mlb.com/brewers/schedule/2018-03/list). While the exact Kid Reporter schedule is not yet set in stone, please be mindful that this opportunity is available to only a select few, and ensure your schedule should allow full participation for three (3) to four (4) separate home-game activities spread throughout the season before you apply.

The selected Kid Reporter will receive one (1) $100 gift card for MLB.com, and four (4) tickets/passes for each of the three (3) or four (4) scheduled activities:

  • One (1) ticket/pass for the Kid Reporter
  • One (1) ticket/pass for a parent/guardian
  • Two (2) additional tickets/passes for guests

This opportunity is open to girls and boys between the ages of 8-14, who showcase an outgoing personality and love for the game of baseball – particularly Milwaukee Brewers baseball.

The two-minute video submission must include:

  • Child’s full name and age
  • A statement attesting to the child being a fan of baseball/softball, mentioning his/her favorite player and/or memory involving his/her favorite team
  • The candidate mock interviewing him/herself

Tips! The candidate should:

  • “Ask” and “respond” to 3-5 questions to show off his/her interview skills
  • Tell us why he/she wants to be the kid reporter for the Brewers’ season and what he/she loves about the sport
  • Be unique in telling us about his/her experiences with the team and mention who are among his/her favorite players, particularly current Brewers players
  • If the candidate is bilingual, he/she should speak in both English and Spanish at times throughout the video
  • Submit a video of good quality which allows us to see and hear the candidate well

The email accompanying the video submission must include:

  • Your name and email address
  • Child’s full name
  • Child’s current age and full date of birth (MM/DD/YYYY)
  • The following subject line –
    • CYB Kid Reporter Submission for Milwaukee Brewers – CHILD’s FIRST AND LAST NAME
    • EXAMPLE: CYB Kid Reporter Submission for Milwaukee Brewers – John Smith

Please complete your nomination form and submit your candidate video to me by 4:00 PM EST on Wednesday, March 14. If you use the proper subject line for the submission video (CYB Kid Reporter Submission for Milwaukee Brewers – CHILD’s FIRST AND LAST NAME), you will receive a response within 48 hours informing you that the submission has been received. Please note that all submissions will be considered and selected by Chevrolet. Submitting a video does not guarantee selection.

This is an exciting educational opportunity that not only allows baseball enthusiasts a chance to meet MLB players and representatives but also the chance to see what it would be like to be a reporter first hand, while accompanied by qualified staff who can provide tips and tools for a one-of-a-kind experience.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Katie
